The NFL is back!!

Finally! After what seemed like a lifetime away this summer, the scandals and shadow boxing can take a back seat – the NFL is back!

Kick Off

The action kicked off with a cracking clash between reigning champions New England Patriots and the Steelers out of Pittsburgh and boy was everyone happy to see the action back on the field after an acrimonious summer.

Golden Boy Tom Brady will be given an extra special welcome by his adoring fans after a particularly tough summer for the SuperBowl MVP and the less said about “Deflate-gate” the better, and there’s no doubt that his record breaking performance on Thursday night – a franchise record nineteen consecutive completions – was a real indicator that the Patriots are intent on defending their title with gusto.

The Steelers for their part had a nightmare trying to cover Rob Gronkowski but they may have unearthed a great back up in DeAngelo Williams who they picked up from the Panthers in pre-season. Mike Tomlin will take plenty of heart from the way his side fought back after a poor first half and the former SuperBowl champs will have a big say in the season ahead.

Meltdown

Elsewhere the action really gets underway on Sunday as the rest of the teams pile into action and there will be a lot of attention on Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks as they attempt to shake off last season’s disappointment in the Super Bowl. Can they recover from their last minute meltdown and make a third successive endgame? The NFL history books say it’s unlikely but the Seahawks have a habit of going against the grain, good or bad, and they will be thrilling to watch, starting on Sunday at the Nick Foles led St Louis Rams before taking on Green Bay in Week Two.

Football Friend!

Detroit Lions and San Diego Chargers face off in a cross conference battle and we’ll be keeping a close eye on the NFC North side and in particular RB Joique Bell who popped over to visit us during the summer (left with Jackie Tyrell and Mossy Quinn)! We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for a big year for the Michigan native!

With so much intrigue and 256 regular season games ahead before we even reach the play-offs we’re very excited for what promises a spectacular season as we build up to the 50th SuperBowl – and you just know when it’s the NFL it’s going to be spectacular!
