Ronaldo – Three reasons why he’s smashing records!

The goals keep coming, the records keep tumbling and football fans all over the world continue to shake their heads.

This week Cristiano Ronaldo notched five goals in a single game, including an eight minute hat-trick, and followed that up with his 300th goal for Real Madrid in just 288 games. Let that sink in. Three hundred goals. Since the start of 2015 Ronaldo was supposed to be in a slump. Well that has been well and truly laid to rest in the last few weeks as the world’s best footballer just keeps on making history.

Here are  three areas in which the former Manchester United star excels.

Speed – The one time flying winger is one of the quickest players in the world game. He famously once sprinted 96 metres in 10 seconds in a counter attack against Atletico Madrid. In a test against Spanish sprinter Angel David Rodríguez, Ronaldo was fractionally behind the professional athlete in a straight line race.

The Real Madrid man has been clocked at 33.6Km/H on the pitch, and is a nightmare for opposition defenders. Part of Real Madrid’s success in recent years has come from their blistering counter-attacking play. The catalyst for that style of play- Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speed and Strenght

Mentality –  “His intention is to be the best”.   The words of one of the all time greats Zinedine Zidane about his successor as talisman for Real Madrid. Ronaldo himself has said similar throughout his career.  “I’ve never tried to hide the fact that it is my intention to be the best,” he has been quoted as saying.

It is this sheer will to succeed, to be the best from his earliest days on the football pitch trying to prove himself at Sporting Lisbon, to the skinny all-style-and-little-substance figure who signed for Manchester United before evolving into the world’s greatest footballer. Ronaldo’s drive on the training ground and on the pitch sets him apart. A true winner.

Power – Physically one of the finest specimens to play the game, Ronaldo has been relentless in his pursuit of getting bigger and better so that every time he steps on the pitch, he is the best player on it. His dedication to training is legendary as is his superb shooting ability. Renowned for his deadly accuracy from both from open play and free-kicks, Ronaldo has been recorded at shooting at 128Km/H. Simply sensational .
